Minolta DiMAGE Scan Elite 5400 and 5400 II Scanner Lens removal
Minolta DiMAGE Scan Elite 5400 Lens removal
Model: MINOLTA DIMAGE SCAN ELITE 5400 scanner
Time required to remove the lens: 10 minutes maximum
Tools Required: Phillips screwdriver, a cordless power screwdriver with a Phillips screw drive bit is recommended
Rating: Super Easy!
This is easiest to remove scanner lens that I have ever come across!
Step One
Remove the bottom and side plates from the scanner using a screwdriver, a cordless power screwdriver would save you some time.
Flip the scanner over to expose the bottom of the main board with the white labels and look for the black retangle shaped lens cover.
Step Two
Use a fingernail or any small tool to pop off this glued-on black plastic cover above the arrow.
Final Step
Locate these two Phillips fasteners holding the lens retainer clip, remove these to access the lens.
Notice that the lens retainer fasteners have a dab of red thread-locker applied, this is a good sign, it means the scanner has not been tampered with.
Minolta DiMAGE Scan Elite 5400 II Lens removal
The images below of the 5400 II model lens removal, but the procedures are just about the same.
Model: MINOLTA DIMAGE SCAN ELITE 5400 II scanner
Time required to remove the lens: 10 minutes maximum, a lot less with a cordless power screwdriver.
Tools Required: Phillips screwdriver, a cordless power screwdriver with a Phillips screw drive bit is recommended
Rating: Super Easy!
This is easiest to remove scanner lens that I have ever come across!
First Step
Remove the bottom and side plates from the scanner using a screwdriver, I recommend a cordless power screwdriver.
Flip the unit around to see this side with the black rectangle lens cover that is below the larger label and above the ribbon cable.
Step Two
This is the lens cover outlined in blue. This cover is glued on so you can use a fingernail or small flat screwdriver to pop it off.
Step Three
This large chrome clip is the lens retainer and is held in place by two phillips head fasteners. Remove these and the lens is out. Thats it, done.
Notice that the lens retainer fasteners have a dab of red thread-locker applied, this unit had clear glue dabbed unto the lens through the round hole in the middle of the retainer clip. This is good, it means the scanner has not been tampered with.
